Frequently Asked Questions

Do you ceritify doulas?

Yes, we do.  Once you have completed our Certification Requirements, you will be Certified through Cornerstone.

To be certified as a Labor Doula, our requirements are as follows:

  • Attend the Core Beginner’s Course and complete all assignments, as well as pass the final exam.
  • Attend Homebirth for Doulas, as well as one Advanced Training of your choice.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation and CPR certification.
  • Required reading and three essays.
  • Attend three births as a Labor Doula and have the evaluations sent to Cornerstone.

You will have up to two years to complete these requirements once finishing the Core Beginner’s Course, but may begin working as a professional doula immediately.

What is the difference between being DONA certified and a Cornerstone Certified Doula?

As it stands, there is no accreditation for Doula Training in the US, therefore all certifying agencies are essentially the same.  To choose the Doula Training that is right for you, make sure you find out about the length, depth, and philosophy of the training and choose the one that fits most with your needs.

Do you offer scholarships?

A:  At this time, we do not.  However, if you would like to speak with Nickie about coming up with a payment plan please contact her directly at (510) 501-7501.

Do you offer trainings in any other area?
